Arsalan and Beenish need each other. He needs a matchmaker and she needs someone to dance a forbidden dance with her to ruin her sister’s wedding. These two are nothing alike, but as they help each other with their goals, they realize they have more in common than they thought. Poignant, sweet, and at times funny, this book makes a great gift.

Surrender by Bono
A great gift for U2 fans and anyone from this era. This book was beautifully written in prose that sounded like a song. The audiobook is exceptional, read by Bono, if you want to gift that.
The Book of (More) Delights by Ross Gay
This book made “delight” a part of my everyday vocabulary. It covers a year of Gay’s life and all the little and big moments of delight he finds in the everyday world. It will change the way you look at things, too.
The Wager by David Grann
The story of two groups of sailors that wash up in Chile and Brazil is recounted in conflicting stories of mutiny and murder. The liars will be hanged. This book was suspenseful and fascinating.
I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
This memoir by the star of iCarly is both funny and very sad. It details her struggles as a child star as well as her fraught relationship with her mother, and finally how she took control of her life. A great read.

She had no idea what she was in for… Wonderful characters and exciting adventures move this story along beautifully.
If We’re Being Honest by Cat Shook
Now this 2023 book is a cast of characters. When a family patriarch dies, his children and grandchildren come home for the funeral. The proceedings of grief are shaken up by a shocking outburst at the funeral. Now the family, full of adults who are in need of some help in life themselves, are handling their own troubles alongside this bombshell. A perfect story about the intricacies of family, the nature of love, and how we move forward when things change.
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
This time travel book will enthrall you. Book publicist Clementine is a little surprised to find Iwan in her newly inherited apartment, but even more so when she puzzles out that he’s from seven years in the past. As she develops feelings for the Iwan of the past, things get more tricky when she meets Iwan of the present day. And she wonders what happened over seven years to make him change so much. As she jumps back and forth in time, she slowly sees how their time together seven years ago influenced the man he became. Is it possible for anything to happen between them now? Such an amazing romance!
No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister
This is another wonderful book out in 2023. Told from the viewpoints of multiple characters, it follows their lives, choices, and relationship to one book and how it changed their lives. It was surprisingly uplifting and I couldn’t put it down. Some characters you’ll root for, others not so much, but seeing the way they were all affected by this book, even the author, was touching in so many ways. Definitely give this story a shot this year.
The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman
This fourth installment of the Thursday Murder Club Mysteries starts with a friend of the club being murdered. Now there’s missing heroin, art forgers, and bodies turning up to create a mystery only these four septuagenarians can solve. This series just gets better and better.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
This first book in a fantasy series set in a reality where there are dragon riders and rebellions will enthrall anyone. Follow Violet as she navigates her first year as a rider in training, making allies and foes, and maybe finding love among danger. Great for fantasy fans.
Flipped for Murder by Maddie Day
