Every year, I like to make goals to help improve myself and my year. This year, I have put a lot of focus on heath, finances, and home for my 2025 goals…
I know not everyone loves being beholden to New Years resolutions, but I absolutely love a new year to be the impetus to my setting fresh new goals. I’ve decided to focus my 2025 goals on getting healthy after a year of health issues, working on my finances after a lot of financial issues, and on my home and family.
If you haven’t chosen any 2025 goals, I encourage you to try to think of a few. They can be big goals or even just some smaller goals that will make you feel good to accomplish. My goals are a mix of both. It’s nice to knock out a goal by February, and just as nice to work toward a big goal that takes most of the year. Completing a goal, big or small, is always a boost. If you need some inspiration, check out my 2025 goals below…
2025 Goals

Run 2 miles a day
I haven’t been able to run for a while due to my over busy schedule and a couple of health issues. So, my goal this year is to get back to running 2 miles every morning. This practice energizes and strengthens me, as well as provides me with time to relax and think. I always feel better after a run.
Drink 60 oz. water
My water consumption is not as good as it should be. I probably get half this amount and I know I need more. Since I have given up caffeine (thank you, decaf coffee), I have been paying more attention to the liquids I do drink. As summer comes, I will probably have no trouble meeting this goal. But for now, it’s a challenge.
Post weekly
I let my blog fall to the wayside last year. So my 2025 goal is to post each week without fail. My writing and sharing of things that might encourage or help others is something I enjoy and feel called to, so I will work to be diligent despite my sometimes crazy schedule.
Reduce debt
This is an important goal. I really want to be free of debt, and while 2024 didn’t make it possible, I am devoted to this goal for this year. I will be having a no-spend year, only buying things that are perishable (food, etc.), necessary (shampoo, etc.), or for the kids (because they are always growing out of things). What I have left goes toward paying down debt.
Tithe regularly
All God asks of the gifts he blesses us with is 10%. That’s not a lot. I will tithe 10% of what I make each week to help others as I have been helped by His hand.
Add money to IRA
Each month I will out a set amount of money in my IRA. In my 40s now, I have been thinking more about the latter half of my life and how I would want it to look. Saving is tough when funds are tight, but every little bit helps.
Listen to Great Courses lecture series each month
I really enjoy listening to lectures. It was my favorite part of college. So I will make time each month to listen to a Great Courses lecture series on a particular topic of interest. This usually coincides with what we are learning in our homeschool as it gives me added details I can share with the kids. They’re available for free through our library system.
Keep up on current events
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in our own little worlds, especially when things are hard. But what is going on in the world matters. We’re a global community. So I will keep up with what’s going on through newspapers, magazines, and other outlets, nationally and internationally.
Birthday lunches
This is one allowed expense this year. I will continue the tradition of taking my kids out on their birthdays for a lunch at the restaurant of their choice. This is such a fun experience to share with each of them, just the two of us. We’ve enjoyed Jamaican, Thai, Japanese, Mediterranean, and El Salvadorian food in the past, to name a few. It’s always delicious and exciting.
Cook 3 meals a day
I don’t like cooking. I admit it. But I do love my family and want them eating healthy meals throughout the day. While they can and do cook, I feel like this year I want to focus on giving this to them. As an added bonus, meal planning and prepping saves money on groceries and helps me shop accordingly.
Declutter a problem area each month
You know the areas I am talking about. The kitchen drawer everyone shoves stuff in. The corner of the bedroom that just accumulates stuff. That front closet that no one is sure what’s in it. These problem areas will get decluttered one area at a time over the course of the year. Spreading it out allows me to not feel guilt about not tackling them all at once. A task that would usually mean me not tackling any because I don’t have that much free time.
Read 250 books
I know this seems like a lot. I actually managed this in 2023, but only read 155 books in 2024 due to other responsibilities. This year, I am off to a good start. I enjoy reading a lot and I also include audiobooks, which I listen to while doing chores, driving, and running. Whether I make it or not, I know I will enjoy some really amazing books this year. Check out some of my past book posts for past favorites.
Read the Bible
I have done this four times, but the Bible always has something new for me. Reading it cover to cover is a big task, but surrounding myself with God’s word can do nothing but good. I have a Reading Plan that sets a goal of about four chapters a day in chronological order. It’s a great addition to my daily routine and puts my heart and mind in the right place for the day.
So these are my 2025 goals. I hope that by the end of the year, I have accomplished them all. But if not, I know that I will be better for having tried. And it will be a good starting point for 2026. I hope these also inspire you to make your own goals for the year. It’s never too late! Check out some posts below for more ideas about goals and how to set realistic ones. Good luck!
