Do you trust God to provide for you? Where do you need God’s provision in your life?
“Eat it today,” Moses said, “because today is a sabbath to the Lord. You will not find any of it on the ground today. Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will not be any.” (Exodus 16:25-26)
Have you ever relied on someone else to provide for you? Most of us have from time to time.
Our parents when we were young. A spouse if we chose to stay at home with our kids. Maybe an adult child when we became too old to do everything for ourselves.
Having people in our lives who can provide for us when we can’t do it for ourselves is a blessing. But it’s also a challenge.
Pride and the belief that we can make it on our own can keep us from asking for help. Fear that we are a burden can make us anxious. And lack of trust that another can be relied upon can stop us from getting the assistance that we need.
These verses in Exodus refer to a time when the Israelite people were wandering through the desert, on their way to the Promised Land. Can you imagine? A desert with thousands of people and presumably few resources.
And then imagine that God has sent manna from heaven for them to eat each day, saving them from hunger and answering their prayers.
But.
They had to trust God’s provision each day, believing that more food would arrive the next day to feed them. On the Sabbath, no food would appear at all, so they had to trust that enough would fall the day before to feed them for two days.
Where do you need to trust God’s provision?
Many of us feel uncomfortable when someone else provides for us. I still struggle knowing that I am not contributing to the family finances like I once did before becoming a stay-at-home mom. But that’s pride, not trust.
There are places in our lives where we need God’s help. We need His provision because no one else can help us, because no one else is the God of all.
Are you struggling to put food on the table? Is your marriage falling apart? Are you searching for peace after a heartbreaking trauma?
God can provide all that we need. He is God over all things and nothing is too big or small for his power or attention.
Lay your worries, fears, heartaches, mistakes, and needs before God and trust in His provision. He will give you everything you need to live a life of peace and fulfillment.
Asking for help is hard. But God is never burdened by our needs, never makes us feel less for not being able to do it ourselves, and never leaves us to our pain or emptiness.
God wants nothing more than to provide for you. What can you entrust to His provision today?
