“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
Do you ever get frustrated because no matter how hard you try, you’re just not where you want to be?
Have you struggled to get your health or your finances in order? Maybe you can’t break a sugar habit or a shopping addiction. Or maybe you want to make a positive change in the world, but you misstep or feel you’re wasting your time.
It can be easy to get discouraged when you’re faced with less than perfect results. We live in a culture that is always offering and chasing the next “perfect” thing, whether it’s the perfect look, the perfect job, or the perfect spouse.
But there is no perfect in this world. Perfection lies with God and we can only see it in the gifts He presents to us, like an amazing sunset, or in His love for us.
We, ourselves, though are not perfect and will always be flawed. Even the most devout followers stumble, and even the most motivated will lose heart. We make mistakes and struggle, and it soon leaves us feeling like we shouldn’t even bother.
But we can’t think that way. Every stumbling block we encounter is an opportunity to become stronger as we get up and try again. Every difficulty is a chance for to lean on the power of our Heavenly Father when our own falters.
We are works in progress. God is working on us every day, but perfection will not be attainable in this life. So accept your flaws, mistakes, and disappoints as a part of this broken world, and then let the perfect strength of God get you through the challenges you’re facing.
What He has started in you will be finished one day. We don’t know when that day will be, but we can press on as our hearts and souls are slowly perfected, like clay on a potter’s wheel.
Have a blessed Monday!
