“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7)
Do you have trouble making requests of God? Do you wonder if it’s right to ask God for certain things in prayer, whether they’ll be granted? The answer can be found in this verse.
If you abide in God, if you follow His teachings as they are laid out for us in the Bible, then you need not worry about your request. Just ask yourself if the thing you wish for is in line with how God wants you to live your life. If the answer is yes, then lift it up to the Lord with confidence.
I often make prayer requests. Sometimes for things that I want, like my son to get over a cold or good night’s rest. Other times, I ask for guidance, like when I need a solution to a problem my husband and I can’t agree on how to fix. I have my own ideas about what I want, but I first search my heart to make sure that what I’m asking for is in line with what Scripture has taught us.
I know that God has a plan and that often he will solve problems in way that I never anticipated or believed possible. So I may not always get the solution I thought I would, but somehow it always turns out even better than I imagined.
Be confident when you go to God in prayer. Live as he would want you to live and fear not that your requests will be ignored. God loves nothing more than to care for you and help you through the difficulties that life brings. If your heart is in the right place, then “it will be done for you.”
Have a blessed Monday!
