“You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:4)
As Jesus prepared his disciples for his upcoming death and resurrection, He told them that He would prepare a place for them, and He would be coming back to take them there.
As a modern day woman, I can’t imagine sitting at a table with Jesus and hearing those words. Would I even be invited to that table in the first place? Would my faith be great enough to be one of the chosen few?
I’m sure that I’m not the only one who struggles with doubts, who wonders if they would be found worthy, if their faith is strong enough. Our doubts hold us back from truly accepting the gift we’ve been given.
Forgiveness. Love. Acceptance. These are all freely given by God.
If we follow the path that He has set for us, we will always be welcome. When the disciples admitted that they did not know where He was going or how to get there, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
We were given a direct link to God through His son, Jesus. Through Jesus’ teachings, example, and guidance, we can know the way. And because of His death and resurrection, we are always invited.
Maybe I wouldn’t have been one of the chosen few to sit at that table, but Jesus assures us that there are many rooms in His Father’s house. And there is one there for each of us. Just follow the way.
Have a blessed Monday!
