“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
Horrible things happen in our world. Things that scare us. Things that make us feel hopeless.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the evil that lives among us when we watch the news, read the paper, and scroll through social media. Story after story degrades our hope for a better future.
We wonder if we can make a difference, if our efforts are even making a dent. But that doubt we feel is the whispering of the devil. He wants us to lose hope, to doubt goodness and only see the darkness.
But we are children of an almighty God who works through us. Our contributions, no matter how big or small, to making the world a better place are guided by His hand.
God is greater. Period. He is greater than all the darkness in the world. Remember that when you begin to feel weighted down by doubts that are not from Him.
God deals in hope, love, and peace. Those other emotions are put there to draw you away from God, away from the light, and away from your purpose.
We all have one. But if fear is making you curl up and turn inward, then you can’t see anything around you. You can’t live out that purpose and help others, acting on God’s behalf, if you can’t look up and out.
Stand tall and fear not. God works in you and strengthens you. And there is nothing on earth that He cannot do.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Have a blessed Monday!
