“Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.” (Psalm 66:8-9)
This is the week of Thanksgiving, and I thought that of all the things that we should be thankful for, an all-powerful, loving God should be one of them.
He loves us like no one on this earth ever could. He is full of grace and mercy. He disciplines and guides us, carrying us through hard times and delivering us into joy and peace.
We are so often led astray by outside temptations and inner weakness. How easy it is for our feet to slip on our journey through life. I know that I make mistakes and sin daily — hourly! But, He is there to catch me as I flounder, right me before I fall, and set me back on the path of righteousness. Over and over again.
Have you floundered lately? Maybe the stress of the upcoming holidays is bringing out your not-so-nice side. Or perhaps this year has brought you heartache and pain, and being thankful is far from your mind. If that’s the case, remember that all things are possible with God. He will heal your hurts and bring peace where there may not be any now.
While we sit around the table on Thursday, let us not forget to thank the God who has made all the rest possible. He has given us many things, not the least of which is eternal life.
God bless you and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
