There are times in our lives when we don’t know what to do, which way to turn. It’s a comfort to know that we can follow God as He guides us…
“Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.” (Jeremiah 42:3)
I am going through a difficult time right now. I had made plans for something and suddenly those plans were ripped out from under me, and I find myself floundering. Even my prayers sound confused.
I feel a little lost and a lot sad. When things change quickly, it can leave us reeling. Not sure which way to turn or what the right decision is to make. I wonder if I should try again, to remake my plans. Or was this a sign from God that it wasn’t to be.
Life is often troubling and confusing. We can get advice from all sides, and it’s not always the best advice, even if it is well-meaning. The best thing we can do is pray. From God, we can get the most accurate advice because He has a plan for our lives.
Pray for guidance
When I am feeling completely lost on what to do, I know that the only place to turn is God. I pray to him with all my heartfelt need, asking for guidance and direction.
I don’t expect a flashy sign (but I wouldn’t mind one!), but I hope that the Holy Spirit will stir my soul in the right direction. That God will place before me people and opportunities that show me the path I should take. That he will walk ahead of me and I can follow in His footsteps.
At times like this, I feel most like the sheep we are often compared to. I am wandering, lost, probably headed in the wrong direction. But I pray for my Lord and shepherd to come lead me back to the fray and the safety He provides.
If you are experiencing a moment of loss or confusion, then take some time today to pray that God will tell you where you should go and what you should do. He will be there with you throughout your wanderings, and He will guide you home.

This post is perfect timing for me! I’ve had decisions to make and was waffling back and forth on my own; but when I took it to God in prayer the better decision became more clear. We often forget we have such a great guide!
