“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8)
“If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”
I’m sure we’ve all heard that Woody Allen quote. Though I don’t really subscribe to it, since it paints God in a darker light, happy to thwart us, I do see the truth in it. God has plans for us. Since before we were born, there were plans.
But our plans, the ones we make on our own, based off of our own understanding, are not His plans. And if we are planning our way down a road that is not in accordance with the great plans God has made for us, then we are most likely going to run into some resistance.
He isn’t looking to frustrate us, but rather to show us that there are bigger things that we cannot see and His way will be the better way.
So if one of your plans has fallen through and you’re feeling deflated and let down, trust that the Lord will offer another path that will be infinitely better than the one you thought you should follow. He’s promised to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust in this.
Have a wonderful Monday!
