Our faith was never meant to be hidden away and only brought out for an hour on Sundays. God wants to be part of our day, every day. So, how do we prioritize God time?
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-19)
When is it God time? When should we study our faith, share our faith, and develop our faith?
According to this directive, always.
When we get up and when we go to sleep, at home and out of it, we are to share our faith with our children and everyone else. If, like me, you’ve made excuses for those days when you just don’t have the time to crack open your Bible, this should make it clear that God doesn’t want to be left out of any of our moments.
How to make all of our time God’s time?
When we get married, we receive a wedding ring. This ring symbolizes our commitment, but also stands as a reminder to ourselves and those around us what we have promised and who we have become.
This verse advises to “fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.”
Like a wedding ring, God wants us to have physical reminders of our commitment to him. He wants them in places where we can easily see them and so can everyone else, making our faith clear.
What does this look like for you? Maybe a cross hanging on your necklace. Maybe a scripture verse as your phone’s lock screen. Or perhaps a Bible that never leaves your side.
There are many ways we can preserve God time and make it a priority each and every day. And when it’s a priority for us, it becomes a priority for those we love.
Sharing our faith with others is a cornerstone of our faith, and raising our children to follow the commands of our God is one of the more important parts of our parenting journey.
So, carry your Bible and wear your cross. And when someone asks about them, share what God has placed on your heart for just such a moment.
Have a joyous Monday!

This is so good. I never thought of using a piece of jewelry to remind me to study God’s word. Thanks for this reminder that God wants us constantly in communion with Him.

Isn’t it a lovely idea, to keep His words with us all day, every day? Thank you so much for reading. God bless!
