“But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity; redeem me, and be gracious to me.” (Psalm 26:11)
Have you ever had a hard time making a decision? Maybe it was something big, like where to buy a house; or maybe it was something small, like what to have for lunch. Decisions pop up throughout our day and require our judgement and wisdom.
I often struggle with making choices because I am so afraid of choosing the wrong one. So afraid that I sometimes make no choice at all and remain in limbo rather than go one way or the other.
This verse reminds us that if our choices are in line with what is right and true, if we are living according to the purpose that God has set for us, then whatever choice we make will be guided by the Holy Spirit. David spoke of walking in his integrity in this verse, and so can we. We have the opportunity every day to hold ourselves to a higher standard, the one set by the Lord.
So when decisions overwhelm you, bring them to God in prayer. Contemplate your choices in light of His will. This goes for the big and the small choices. If you think that God doesn’t care about what you make for dinner, consider the numerous passages in the Bible that detail what the Israelites should and should not eat. Even about the tiniest details in your life, God cares.
When your life and choices follow a righteous path, the Lord will be gracious. He will walk with you; sometimes smoothing the way, other times catching you when you stumble, and sometimes carrying you over the rough patches. But always and forever will He walk with you.
Have a great Monday!
