What does it feel like to be loved so much that we’ll never be let go? What does it mean to you that you’re loved now and forever?
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:27-28)
We all love love, don’t we? It’s the subject of movies and songs and many, many conversations. We are driven to love and want nothing more than to be loved.
But the love we find is not always as satisfying as we want it to be. It’s broken up by misunderstandings and incompatibility. It ends when feelings change, or circumstances. And sometimes we are blessed with a love that lasts a lifetime.
But it’s just a lifetime. What about after? Can we have a love that lasts into eternity? With God, we can.
Nothing separates us from God because of His love
God loves us perfectly, despite how imperfect we are. He never stops reaching for us, even when we stop reaching for him. His love is boundless and never dictated by mercurial feelings or changing circumstances.
After we die, His love still holds us. It keeps us with him for all eternity.
This is not about our love for Him. That’s a human love that shifts and changes, that’s influenced by sin and distraction. We want to love God with our whole hearts, but our imperfections make it hard.
He has no imperfections and so His love is perfect. And nothing can tear us away from it.
Love from another person is wonderful. It makes our days so much better. But no matter who is in our lives, and who walks out, we need to remember that there is One who loves us unequivocally. One who loves us as we are. One who loves us forever and ever.
God loves us. From now to eternity.
Have a blessed Monday!
