“If our children will one day lead, then they first must learn to serve.” –Clay and Sally Clarkson, Educating the WholeHearted Child
I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who didn’t complain about politics. Whether it’s the president of the country, their congressman, or just the HOA president in their neighborhood, everyone has had a problem with their leadership at one time or another.
What most of these complaints boil down to is that the leaders are not looking out for the people they were elected to serve. They have their own goals, their own interests, and their own circle to look out for.
These leaders have forgotten what they were elected to do, what they promised to do—serve. And a leader who doesn’t serve is just a person with more power than they deserve.
When Jesus came down to live among us, He proclaimed that He did not come to be served, but rather to serve. We all have a responsibility to follow His example. And not just with ourselves, but with our children.
How we raise our children, the examples we set, the morals we instill in them, and the path we lead them on are all important parts of molding them into the leaders of their generation. Teaching them that serving others is paramount makes them true leaders of their generation.
Whether you are raising children or are in a position of leadership yourself, make service a cornerstone of your life and your family’s. Your example of authentic leadership can inspire this generation and the next.
Have a blessed Monday!
