Life doesn’t always play out the way we’d like and our circumstances can be hard. But we are not without hope, not without a Savior who walks with us…
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalms 42:11)
For many of us, the new year is a time of renewal and excitement. There are possibilities and opportunities all around us. The world seems full of options for our taking.
But for others, this time – from the Advent season into the fresh new year – can seem like nothing but more of the same. When loneliness, pain, distance, and financial struggles abound, New Year’s resolutions and possibilities can seem far from our minds.
If your soul hurts, life seems anything but good. But that doesn’t mean that you are without hope. Through these hard times, you don’t walk alone.
Jesus brings hope in hard times
Throughout the Bible, we see Jesus walking with those going through difficult life circumstances. From the blind since birth, to the woman bleeding for years, to the recently deceased, Jesus never shied from hard and painful events in life.
Instead, He came beside these people. He healed them, blessed them, and brought them back to life. He did it with dignity and caring.
If you are someone going through hard times, remember that God has not forgotten you. Remember Him so that you may live in His hope, allowing it to bolster you when life only seems to hold you down.
And if you are in a better place in your life, then consider how you can be that hope for someone else. How can you be a light in their darkness, with practical help, words of encouragement, or prayer?
God walks with us through all the ups and downs. He does not get weary of our lives, but instead waits patiently for us to turn to Him when we are ready. Let us welcome Him into our days, good and bad, and remember to have hope for the best that is yet to come.
Have a blessed Monday!
