Being rich in what matters is not the same as being rich according to the world. Strive to be rich in the important things and your life will take on new meaning…
“Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.” (2 Corinthians 6:10)
Are you rich when you grieve? Are you wealthy when you have nothing but the clothes on your back? How can you possess everything when you possess nothing?
These are all questions that bring to mind the topsy-turviness of God’s world compared to the world we live in. In our world, we pity the sorrowful, the poor, and the powerless. We both empathize with them and hope we will never be them.
But God asks us to look at it in another way. He wants us to step away from the reasonings of the culture we live in and instead see these things from the perspective of the heaven-born.
How can we look at hardship and loss and see riches?
Seeing the richness of God in all things
In all things related to God there are riches. He Himself is worthy beyond compare. Knowing this, knowing that we have the richness of God with us and in us, how can we not rejoice?
Even when we are poor and powerless by the standards of our world, when we have Christ, we are neither alone nor poor. Instead our hearta are rich with the gold of His presence.
He warms us on cold nights. He wipes away our tears when we grieve. And He makes us rich in the things that are important.
As we shift our thinking and see the rich gift of Jesus Christ in us, we can begin to see how much we really have. The world may not see it, but we can feel it. That’s God within us. There is nothing richer than that.
Have a blessed Monday!
