One of the Fruits of the Spirit is Faithfulness, both ours and God’s. But are you sharing this faithfulness with others or hoarding it close to your heart?
“I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.” (Psalm 40:10)
Sharing is caring. How many times have we all heard this saying, or said it to someone (particularly our kids)?
Most of us are quick to share. We pass on advice and good news. We share heartaches and disappointments. We certainly share our opinions.
But why are many of us reticent when it comes to sharing God’s faithfulness? What makes us clam up when the topic turns to faith and God’s promises fulfilled?
Why is faith hard to talk about?
I admit that I am as guilty of this as anyone. I offer up lukewarm explanations with words like luck and hope, saying I’m thinking of someone rather than praying for them.
While there are definitely people who are more than happy to share the faithfulness threaded through their lives, I stumble. I feel uncomfortable offering up my faith, which feels so personal (psst, even on this blog!)
But just as God says not to hide a light under a bushel (Matthew 5:15), we should not hide His faithfulness either.
We should be excited to share all the ways that God has blessed us, giving personal witness to the experiences that prove that our God is one who keeps his promises.
If you’re like me and find yourself holding your faith close to your heart where no one else can see it and learn from it, maybe now is the time to ask God to give you the courage to share.
Sharing really is caring. And sharing God’s faithfulness is one of the greatest gifts we can give to the people we love.
Have a blessed Monday!
