“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
Lots of things come with motherhood. Sleepless nights. Sloppy kisses. Stretch marks. But more than any of the others, motherhood brings the onslaught of advice.
While you are reading books, googling odd symptoms, and asking your best friend what time her kids go to bed, there are well-meaning family, friends, and strangers walking up to you on the street to offer advice and guidance on how to best raise your little ones.
All this information can lead to decision fatigue. So how do you make the best choices to raise your children in the best possible way?
Stick to the advice that comes from the father of the entire human race.
God gave us the Bible so that we could have guidance on not just how to live our own lives in accordance to his will, but how our children should be taught and raised to live theirs.
So instead of grabbing the latest baby book or parenting magazine to find out what you need to do, grab His book for that information.
If it seems a little overwhelming (1000+ pages can seem a lot to ask when you can’t find time to shower and parenting can’t be put on pause), look up key verses relating to children, wisdom, teaching, and motherhood. Pray on them. I have always believed that God will show you where you need to go. So crack open your Bible to a random page and see what God has in store for you today.
As a mom, we are going to make mistakes and we are going to disappoint, but God’s grace fills in the gaps between what we can do on our own and what needs to be done.
Have a blessed Monday!
