It doesn’t take much to make change, and the smallest light can guide us in the darkness. How can we seek change in our lives and in our worlds today?
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)
Small lights can still chase away darkness
One verse of scripture. One helpful word. A friend’s reproof, a spouse’s comment, a child’s cry. There are innumerable times when one small thing can make us see our error and change our course.
The dramatic part of us expects something big and grand to be what makes change, but for most of us, it’s those small moments in daily life that herd us back where we need to be.
I believe that God sends these small moments to us. Using others, He shepherds us away from darkness by casting a light on it.
Have you ever found yourself suddenly aware of what you were doing and where it would likely lead? Maybe it was an argument that would burn a friendship. Or an attitude that was grinding down your child’s spirit. Or even a behavior that was going to hurt your professional life.
We don’t have the ability to see into the future, but God uses scripture, the Holy Spirit, and the people in our lives to cast just enough light that we can see the darkness. We can choose to proceed into its murky depths, or we can choose to turn toward the light.
The choice has always been ours. What will you choose today?
Have a blessed Monday!
