“It is nice to just spend time with someone that makes you smile and just be yourself.” – Anonymous
There is nothing better than a friendship that expects nothing, but gives everything.
We all have friends, ones we’ve accumulated over the years and that we’ve categorized and grouped. The work friends, the family friends, the Facebook friends, the college friends, the acquaintance friends, the close friends… We mentally group them by interest, by location, and by intimacy level.
But that last group, the close friends, are the most precious of all. These are our best friends, the people who know us well and love us anyway. They don’t expect witty conversation or elaborate plans or favors. They don’t expect anything from us except our friendship in return.
They’re the ones who will spend Friday night with you, Web MD-ing that red spot on your little toe instead of going somewhere.
They’re the ones who will sit silently while you bare your soul without trying to interject something about themselves.
They’re the ones who will be happy to hear from you even if you haven’t answered their texts or emails for weeks (or months) because time means nothing to a real friendship.
They’re the ones who enrich our lives.
Spending time with a friend who loves us just the way we are is a true blessing. There are few of these people in our lives, but the handful that are, fill our hearts up more than a thousand superficial or business relationships ever could.
So, feel blessed to have a true friend or two in your life. And know that you have made a difference in the lives of those you chose to extend your friendship and heart to as well.
Have a happy Monday!
