As we focus on Faithfulness this month, one of the Fruits of the Spirit, it’s easy to see the difference between the impermanence of this world and the unchanging nature of God. He, above all else, is where we can place our faith.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
There’s a lot of change going on in our world. Some of it good, some not.
Amidst all this change, it can sometimes feel as though nothing is permanent. Everything is up for reinvention and pivoting.
How do we have faith in anything when nothing stays the same?
There is one, however, that does stay the same. He is faithful to all His promises.
God doesn’t reinvent Himself. He doesn’t pivot with the times. He is the same God He always was, now and forever.
What He promised in scripture centuries ago is still true today.
Having faith in His forgiveness
God promised to forgive us our sins when we come to Him with a contrite heart. No hoops or complex contracts. No fine print.
God will cleanse us of all unrighteousness when we confess our sins because He wants nothing more than to clear the stain of our mistakes from us.
God loves us and always has. He has never wanted us to live a life of sin. He created Adam and Eve without sin in the Garden of Eden. That was how he wanted us, free and thriving.
And He has not changed. That is still His desire. He sent His son to die for those sins. His Spirit dwells in us as our guide in this life.
God is still faithful to His promises to cleanse us so that we can be reunited with Him one day.
We can have faith in Him.
Have a blessed Monday!
