“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:13-14)
Have you ever noticed how uncomfortable people are in their own skin? Maybe you’re one of them. I know I have been on many occasions, especially when I was younger.
We compare ourselves to others and almost always find something lacking. Maybe it’s how we talk or what we like. Maybe it’s what we have or don’t have. More often than not, it’s about how we look.
Women, in particular, are especially vulnerable to these comparisons and the inevitable hit to our self-esteem. We feel the judgement (both real and imagined) every time we look in the mirror, get dressed, offer our opinion, and go out with our children.
Are we pretty enough? Fashionable enough? Good enough mothers? Ladylike enough? Good enough Christians?
Wonderfully made? Really?
All these questions make us doubt ourselves and who we are. We may even doubt our Creator. Isn’t that what plastic surgery and Botox are—man-made corrections to the “mistakes” God made when He formed us?
But God doesn’t make mistakes. He creates us from the moment we begin to grow in our mother’s womb, forming us into the exact perfect people He wants us to be. We aren’t lacking in anything.
We’re just made into different forms to serve different purposes.
If you struggle with confidence, wishing you were better at this or looked like that, remember that you were made exactly the way God intended. We are all of equal value in His eyes.
Today, try to see yourself as God sees you—a wonderful and beautiful creation, one of His beloved children.
After all, you were a work of the Great Creator, and His works are always wonderful.
Have an amazing Monday!

Rebecca, happy to meet you through the Salt and LIght Link Up! I LOVE that verse, and it speaks to me often through my own insecurities and love the sweet reminder that we are not alone in this struggle, and that seeing ourselves from God’s perspective is not only healthy, but healing too! <3

So great to meet you, too! This verse is close to my heart as well and I hope that we all spend some time thinking about how special we are in God’s eyes.
