Let’s run our race with endurance…
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
Are you feeling weighed down? Are there things tugging you back as you try to push forward toward your goals?
Oftentimes, we lug things around with us that slow us down, wear us out, and divert us from our purpose. Past mistakes, guilt, anger and bitterness, jealousy, and expectations can all sap our strength.
Sometimes these things keep us looking behind instead of ahead. Sometimes they slow us down with negative emotions and sinful thoughts. And sometimes we find ourselves trying to run a race that’s not even ours.
Is your endurance flagging today?
Social media and the connectivity of the internet make it very easy to judge and be judged. To envy and be envied. And to obsess on ourselves instead of focusing on the One who really matters.
More often than not, looking at other people’s lives with a critical eye keeps our energy and heart away from where we should be spending our time and using our abilities.
But God doesn’t want this. He doesn’t want us to be tangled up in things that drag us down.
He wants us to be free. To persevere and live out our purpose with endurance, acting as disciples in the world.
So let go of the things that are holding you back, slowing you down, and detouring you from your path. Put your strength into running the race that is yours, to the finish line that is His.
May your Monday be blessed with perseverance and determination!
