Looking to streamline your life and increase your productivity? Here are my Top 10 Apps that Every Homemaker Should Have…
I would be lost without my phone.
I hate to admit it, but without that little piece of technology, I could not possibly keep track of everything I need to do for myself, my family, and my home. Well, that is not completely true. I could keep track, but it would require a lot more time. And who can afford to waste that? Being productive and efficient is important to me and my phone helps me accomplish that.
I should probably stop calling it a phone since I rarely talk on it. Its apps are the reason that it is my electronic Siamese twin. There are a handful of apps that help me manage my time and just make my life easier. Some of them have overlapping functions so you may not need all of them, but they are definitely worth a try to see which ones you like the best.

Evernote
This app is awesome for jotting down notes, making lists, or writing blog posts (like this one!). It’s easy to use and you can go from working on your computer to your phone with no trouble. When a quick to-do list is not enough and I need to write a little more extensively, this works great.
You can also save pictures to it and your handwritten lists. After writing my New Year’s Goals in a notebook, I just added them to Evernote so I could see them even when I was out and about.
I am always coming across articles online that I want to read but just do not have the time. So saving them to Pocket is perfect. I can go back and read them later when I have some quiet time. I also love to save things here that I want to look into further. Remember back in the day, when you would clip recipes or exercise routines out of magazines and place them in a pile for later? This is just like that, except without the paper clutter and ink on your fingers.
Todoist
For quick lists that are easy to check off, Todoist is the way to go. You can color code your lists, prioritize things, and set up due dates. I use this for daily errands, shopping lists, and book lists (i.e. what I’ve read so far that year).
Feedly
I love reading blogs but finding the time can be hard. Feedly helps by collating all of your favorite blogs so that you can easily skim through the posts, reading what you want and skipping the rest. You have the option to save things for later or even send them to Pocket.
Dropbox
This is another great app if you like to switch back and forth between your computer and phone. It is also helpful if you are collaborating with someone else since you can share access. Making up a cell phone contract for your teenager? You and your husband can hammer it out together in Dropbox.
Ibotta
The only thing better than buying something on sale, is getting it on sale with a coupon. And the only thing better than that is getting an Ibotta rebate on top of it. This app is great for getting some money back from the shopping you are already doing. There are also bonuses that are easy to reach and help you earn even more. I usually do a quick consult of this app when I’m making up my shopping list.
Flipp
I may be one of the laziest people in the world when it comes to picking up my mail. So when I make my meal plans and shopping lists each week, I normally don’t have the circulars to check out the sales at the local stores. But Flipp does. I can check out all the major stores, compare sales, and add things that interest me to a list. This saves me a bunch of time (but keeps me unpopular with my mailman and overstuffed mailbox).
Remember the Milk
I have the free version and it gives me everything I need. It is great for making lists, sharing them, and even provides an email address that you can use to send tasks directly to it. It can connect to Gmail and Evernote, and I can go back and forth from between computer and phone.
Week Plan
This app helps me focus on weekly goals, prioritize tasks, and organize lists. It even separates items into four quadrants, a la Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It really helps me manage my time and plan better.
Mediafire
I am forever using up my phone’s memory with pictures. Mediafire automatically saves them as soon as they are taken and I can delete them off my phone. They do require organizing after the fact, but at least all my cute kid pictures are safe an*7\d my phone can still function.
I hope this list gives you some new apps to try out and they help you be more productive. And have some fun, too!
Did I miss some? What apps do you use that make you and your home run more efficiently? Let me know in the comments.
