“Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell? It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds in the sky. Destruction and Death say, ‘Only a rumor of it has reached our ears.’ God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens.” (Job 28:20-24)
When I’m stuck with a problem that needs a solution, I immediately move into fix-it mode.
I think and plan and anticipate different scenarios. I ask my mom and friends what they think. My husband gets tapped for his opinion. I consider a professional. I read. And, of course, I check with Google.
But oftentimes, the solutions that we come up with are not really the best ones. Even when we think we’ve nailed it. Because if we haven’t consulted with God, then we really haven’t checked the best place.
The source of all wisdom
God is the font of all wisdom. No one else has the ability to see all things and know how the future will unfold. He sees the twists in the road that are too far away for us to anticipate.
No person, no professional, and no search engine is going to guide us to wisdom like God will. He’s placed the Holy Spirit within us to speak to our hearts, to help us understand the knowledge that He wants to impart to us.
I’ve never consulted a fortune teller or medium, but I know that people do. But these seers are just human. And if they possess the ability to reach beyond our realm, then they are tapping into things that my soul wants no part of. And even those otherworldly powers are no match for what our omniscient God’s wisdom holds.
Don’t go first to the things of this world for the wisdom and guidance you crave. Open your Bible. Pray. Let the all-knowing, all-powerful, and loving God lead you to the answers you need.

Well said! You bring us back to what should be obvious but oftentimes it isn’t. Thank you for reminding us of the value and blessing of God’s wisdom. Well done!

Thank you, Gretchen! It’s funny how we all need reminders to bring us back to the obvious. I just love being able to read others’ thoughts on scripture because there’s always something new to learn. Thank you for reading!
